One Direction greets 'X Factor' boy bands; Niall Horan has intense knee pain

One Direction is gearing up for a big weekend with TV appearances on October 6 and October 7, 2012, but One Direction's Niall Horan, 19, will have to do the shows while he's in excruciating pain, since he has a recurring knee injury that he will have an operation for sometime this month. One Direction will appear on "The X Factor" U.K. on October 6, 2012, to give advice to the contestants. One Direction was created on "The X Factor" U.K. in 2010, and came in third place on the show that year. Horan's knee injury prevented the group from performing in this episode. Video: One Direction's "Live While We're Young" music video -- behind-the-scenes look One Direction is doing its first live performance of "Live While We're Young" on the 2012 BBC Radio 1 Teen Awards on October 7. One Direction is nominated for three prizes at the awards show. Even though Horan has a knee injury, One Direction could not back out of its contractual obligation to perform on the awards show.
