Sometimes all that’s wrong just feels so right, at least according to Mary J. Blige. The Queen of R&B is neither ashamed nor afraid to indulge in “Mr. Wrong”, her latest single featuring “October’s Very Own” golden boy, Drake.
Last time this hip-hop/R&B duo paired up, Drizzy was giving MJB her true props as “The One.” This time they’re teaming up again for a second go-round on the sultry, slow-grinding Rock-N-B track, produced by Rico Love and Jim Jonsin.
Drizzy opens up the song warning about those who “fall victim to [his] system”; how he’s there when it matters, but missing most of the other times—a terrible pattern when success becomes an addiction. “I’m always her regret, yeah I’m always her regret, and I always make it harder on whoever’s coming next,” he croons before MJB declares, “Bad boys ain’t no good. Good boys ain’t no fun.” What’s a girl to do?
Although she knows she should run off with the “right one”, she and “Mr. Wrong get along so good,” even though he breaks her heart so bad. No matter how hard she tries, she can’t give him up. She loves her “Mr. Wrong.”
“Mr. Wrong” is the second single from Mary J. Blige’s highly anticipated 10th studio album, My Life II… The Journey Continues (Act I), due out Nov. 21st. Check it out below and decide whether you’d prefer Mr. Right to Mr. Wrong.
