Lindsay Lohan charged with assault, accused of punching woman in face
NEW YORK – For most, the day you are charged with a crime is one of your darkest. For Lindsay Lohan, that ante has been upped, as the troubled actress was charged on Thursday with not one, but four separate crimes in two different states.
The Santa Monica City Attorney charged Lohan Thursday with three crimes in relation to her June car crash on the Pacific Coast Highway.
The three crimes are (1) giving false information to a police officer, (2) obstructing or resisting an officer in the performance of his duty, and (3) reckless driving.
In a statement sent to FOX 411 the Santa Monica Police Department said Lohan's charges come today after further investigation of the June crash.
"During the subsequent investigation, information was developed that Lohan was the driver of the Porsche when the accident occurred," the statement explained.
Earlier this week, MTV News attempted to figure out a way for perpetually problem-plagued actress Lindsay Lohan to get her career back on track after the not-so-hot reviews of her Lifetime movie "Liz & Dick," but now, after yet another disappointing incident in which Lohan was arrested for punching a woman at a nightclub, her future — both professional and personal — looks bleaker than ever.
MTV News reached out to a new panel of industry experts with this question: Will Lindsay Lohan ever find work as an actress again?
"You keep hoping that she's going to get her act together, so does everyone in Hollywood. They keep rooting for her, and she blows it every time," lamented "Access Hollywood" film critic Scott Mantz. "She's got more breaks from people in Hollywood than anyone in her position deserves to get but she does not give the impression of someone who really wants to get her career back on track. She should not be going out. She should be sitting home reading scripts and get her career back on track. She is not doing that."It's safe to say Thursday wasn't Lindsay Lohan's best day.
Not long after she was arrested for allegedly punching a woman in a New York City club, Lohan was charged with lying to police after she crashed her car into a big rig June 8 on the Pacific Coast Highway in Santa Monica.
Prosecutors charged the actress with resisting, obstructing, or delaying an officer in the course of their duties, providing false information to an officer, and reckless driving, according to E! News. All of are misdemeanors, and a court date has not yet been set.
Lohan is currently on probation for stealing jewelry from a Venice store earlier this year. And if the crash wasn't enough to get her probation revoked, the assault charges on the other side of the country might.

Hill's clutch shot pushes Pacers past Lakers 79-77
Kobe Bryant is arguably the best the NBA has seen in the past decade, but even 34-year-old superstars could use a breather every now and then.
At 26.9 PPG, Bryant leads the NBA in scoring while shooting 51 percent from the field and 41 percent from beyond the arc. Still, as Bryant ages, it's hard to imagine that he can sustain shooting the ball for such high percentages for an 82-game season. It's a tricky language, but just part of the job now as we get to know Lakers Coach Mike D'Antoni and what he's really saying when he speaks.
For example, I wanted to know if anyone has ever used the expression "to go D'Antoni on someone," as in really letting someone have it as he did Pau Gasol the other day."I didn't do anything to him," D'Antoni says, and for all we know Gasol is inside the locker room and curled into a ball after being annihilated by D'Antoni.
"Those were tough words," I suggest.
"What did I say?" D'Antoni wants to know, and as much as he talks and as hard as it is to always understand what he's saying, maybe he didn't hear himself correctly.
I remind him he benched Gasol in Memphis and when D'Antoni was asked later what he was thinking, he told everyone he was thinking he wanted to win the game.
Ouch!
"Those are tough words?" D'Antoni asks.
"I thought those were as tough words as we've heard from a coach around here."
"You're a sensitive guy," D'Antoni jokes. "See, I'll treat you a little bit different. I've got to give you a big hug because obviously you need one."

Christina Aguilera & Justin Bieber? Xtina Is Interested In A Duet
Christina Aguilera is hoping to hit a new high note with the help of Justin Bieber.
The voluptuous singer walked the red carpet before her American Music Awards performance on Sunday and talked to reporters about her upcoming projects.
Fresh off the release of her latest album “Lotus,” X-Tina is already looking ahead into her musical future.
When asked about what performance she was most excited about at the 40th Anniversary AMA’s, Aguilera proudly admitted to being one of Justin Bieber’s many “belibers.”
“I’m really into this song right now called, ‘As Long as You Love Me,’”’ Aguilera said of the pop star’s smash hit single.Justin Bieber may soon be leaving his duet partner Nicki Minaj behind -- at least if Christina Aguilera has her way.
The singer and "The Voice" judge told Extra TV she is a big fan of the Biebs and is currently stuck on one song in his growing catalog of chart hits.
"I'm really into this song right now called, 'As Long as You Love Me' and it's Justin Bieber's song, so I'm actually looking forward to it," she said.
When asked if a collaboration is in the stars' futures, Aguilera said she is open to collaborating with Bieber and that "the possibilities are endless, so we'll see."
Both artists performed during Sunday's American Music Awards. Bieber hit the stage with Minaj for "Beauty and the Beat" while Aguilera performed several tracks from her new album, "Lotus."

American Music Awards 2012 Show Lines Up Rihanna, Nicki Minaj & Many More
Justin Bieber and Nicki Minaj are double award winners at the 40th annual American Music Awards Sunday night in Los Angeles.
Bieber won the first award of the night - favorite pop/rock male artist - and he accepted with the comment: "I want to say this is for all the haters who thought that I was just here for one or two years. I feel like I'm going to be here for a very long time."
When he returned to the stage to claim his award for favorite pop/rock album (for his "Believe"), he corrected what he saw as an oversight and thanked his long-time mentor, Usher, among others.
Minaj won the awards for favorite rap/hip hop album (for "Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded") and favorite rap/hip hop artist.America proved its Bieber Fever was strong: The teen singer dominated the American Music Awards on Sunday night.
Bieber's wins included the show's top award, artist of the year.
The singer's mom joined him onstage as he collected the top award.
He looked to his mom: "I wanted to thank you for always believing in me."
He said it's "hard growing up with everyone watching me" and asked that people continue to believe in him. There was a lot of fire and fiery moments at AMAs but while some burned high and bright others went up in smoke, take a look at our best and worst of the night. Best & Worst: Usher's opening performance. The singer is always a tight dancer but he seems to have sacrificed his voice in the name of dance.
Terrence Jones posterizes Jodie Meeks on the fast break (VIDEO)
Terrence Jones has not gotten a lot of minutes with the Houston Rockets yet, but the rookie has a ton of talent. On Sunday, he decided to join the highlight reels by putting Jodie Meeks on a poster. Poor Meeks is going to regret not getting out of the way on this play. The best part about that is watching Jones after the play. He acts so nonchalant about it. That is what makes it a true highlight in my book. If you act like you do something like this every day, it ups the cool factor. Plus, the dude made it look effortless AND he dunked his with his non-dominant hand. I am not sure you are going to be able to do better than that.
For whatever reason, Jones has been stapled to the bench in the H-Town so far. However, I think he is going to start getting minutes after this play. It may not be because of this play alone, but there are a lot of factors at work. The Rockets have all these talented young players so you might as well play them. Leaving Jones on the bench is going to do nothing for you. Let the kid play and see what he has.
Review: Nintendo's Wii U a potential dual threat
The launch of the Wii U is exciting for any Nintendo fan, but one thing that’s bumming owners out is the delay of Nintendo TVii. We found out just before launch that Nintendo TVii won’t be arriving until sometime in December, when before that announcement, Nintendo had been saying that the service would be patched in at launch. The last minute delay has to sting for some who were looking forward to Nintendo TVii, but in a new interview with MTV Multiplayer, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime did his best to justify the delay.9:03PM EST November 18. 2012 - For Nintendo's next video-game console, the most important screen isn't that flat-panel TV in your living room. It's the one on your lap.
The Wii U, successor to Nintendo's blockbuster Wii console, presents several intriguing possibilities for interactive entertainment, thanks to a tablet-style controller, the GamePad.
The GamePad is highlighted by a 6.2-inch touchscreen, flanked by thumbsticks on each side, a camera on top and an assortment of buttons standard on most video-game controllers. Imagine stretching out a traditional controller and slapping a screen right in the middle.

St-Pierre (23-2 MMA, 17-2 UFC) got the win over Condit (28-6, 5-2 UFC) in front of his home fans in Montreal at Bell Centre, and the victory may have set up a superfight against middleweight champion Anderson Silva. St-Pierre won a unanimous decision with scores of 49-46, 50-45 and 50-45, earning two sweeps from the three judges. A relentless Georges St-Pierre celebrated his comeback by winning a five-round decision over Carlos (Natural Born Killer) Condit to unify the welterweight title in a bloody battle at UFC 154 on Saturday night.

Lakers Fire Coach; Jackson Is Available
In a city ruled by star power, the Los Angeles Lakers are once again grasping for a beacon powerful enough to guide their glamorous roster. For the third time in 13 years, that search might end at the doorstep of a philosophizing legend with an awkward gait. After losing four of five games to start the season, the Los Angeles Lakers fired coach Mike Brown on Friday. Assistant coach Bernie Bickerstaff will serve as interim coach while the Lakers search for a long-term replacement. In a news conference, team general manager Mitch Kupchak left open the possibility of the Lakers making a run at bringing back Phil Jackson for a third time as coach.
"I think you'd be negligent not to be aware that [Jackson's] out there," Kupchak said. So, hours after he was let go by the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday, embattled coach Mike Brown relaxed by going to a local Chik-fil-A restaurant for a delicious chicken sandwich. As you can see in the photo above (via TMZ), Brown seems to be in perfectly good spirits following his dismissal. Mike Brown followed an 11-time NBA champion coach with the Los Angeles Lakers, taking charge of a roster packed with aging talent and a franchise anticipating more titles.
And after just 71 regular-season games, the Lakers decided Brown wasn't the man for a pressure-packed job.
The Lakers fired their coach on Friday after a 1-4 start to his second season in charge, making one of the earliest coaching changes in NBA history."I have great respect for the Buss family and the Lakers' storied tradition and I thank them for the opportunity they afforded me," Brown said in a statement. "I have a deep appreciation for the coaches and players that I worked with this past year and I wish the organization nothing but success as they move forward."
The Daily Show Interview With David Petraeus' Biographer Is Extremely Awkward In Hindsight
Paula Broadwell, a Harvard researcher who co-wrote a biography of David Petraeus, is the woman with whom the retired four-star general had an affair, prompting his abrupt resignation on Friday as director of the CIA, according to Slate's Fred Kaplan.
Broadwell co-authored "All In: The Education of General David Petraeus," which was released in earlier this year. According to her website, she was embedded with the general in Afghanistan from July 2010 to July 2011 and was "afforded extensive access by General Petraeus, his mentors, his subordinates, and his longtime friends."
The New York Times reported that Congressional and White House officials also believed that Broadwell had an affair with Pertraeus. The AP also confirmed this report.
As Fred Kaplan just reported, the woman with whom Gen. David Petraeus was having an affair with was Paula Broadwell, the author of a recent hagiographic book about him, All In: The Education of General David Petraeus.
Broadwell, who herself has a military background, made a number of media appearances earlier this year while promoting the release of her book. As you'll see in the clips below, she clearly thought very highly of the general.Slate is reporting that Paula Broadwell, the author of David Petraeus' biography, had an affair with the former CIA director that led to his resignation earlier today.
This interview of her on The Daily Show, in hindsight, is cringeworthy.
About three and a half minutes into the clip, Jon Stewart and Broadwell discuss Petraeus' habit of running with her to get to know her while she was embedded with him in Afghanistan.

‘The X Factor’ USA video: Carly Rose Sonenclar, Arin Ray lip-sync One Direction
One Direction fever is present in Los Angeles. With Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson already in the metro area, the fans are ready to hear the band sing a few tunes. It isn't just the fans that are excited; the X Factor contestants are too. On Tuesday the Top 12 acts put their One Direction focus to the test and released a video singing Live While We’re Young.Simon Cowell is one smart man. Why? Not only does he have his singing sensation from the United Kingdom in One Direction appearing on “the X Factor” USA Thursday night, but he also has them singing one of the British boy band’s greatest hits in what is a really fun lip-sync rendition of Live While We’re Young.”You can check out the video below, and it really shows off everyone from Carly Rose Sonenclar (the youngest artist still in the competition) to Vino Alan (the oldest) rocking out to the lyrics of the song. You probably never thought you would see someone like Alan or country singer Tate Stevens having fun with this song, but the strange thing is that it totally works for him. They not only bring all of the energy that you would expect them to, but they make their own mini-performance into something that is not as ridiculous as it otherwise could be.Looks like Harry Styles and Caroline Flack won't be getting back together anytime soon as according to a new interview with the One Direction stud, the Xtra Factor presenter has “bad breath”.
The 'Live While We're Young' star was playing 'Snog, Marry, Avoid' with Cher Lloyd, Tulisa Contostavlos and his former flame Caroline when he revealed her breath isn't the mintiest.
He told OK! Magazine: “Snog Cher, marry Tulisa and avoid Caroline! Caroline had really bad breath when we kissed. 'Could Do With a Tic Tac Flack', that’s what I call her! Only joking

Obama wins second term, Fox News projects
President Obama won a second White House term Tuesday night, overcoming concerns about the fragile economic recovery to soundly defeat Republican nominee Mitt Romney.
"We've got more work to do," Obama declared, addressing a cheering crowd at his victory rally in Chicago early Wednesday morning. Obama spoke to supporters at his campaign headquarters shortly after Romney called the president to concede. Obama congratulated his opponent on a "hard-fought campaign."
After one of the nastiest political battles and most gridlocked terms in modern American history, the president vowed to reach out to the other side in a second term on everything from immigration to the deficit. He asked supporters to keep the "hope" and said that while the "passions" and "controversy" won't wane after Election Day, "progress will come in fits and starts." President Obama will win re-election, Fox News projects. The call comes after the president was the projected winner in the crucial battleground of Ohio, and subsequently won both Iowa and Oregon. This put Obama over the required 270 electoral votes.
ORIGINAL STORY ...
Mitt Romney claimed his first battleground prize of the night with a projected victory in North Carolina, answering an early string of swing-state victories Tuesday by President Obama. ammy Baldwin captured Wisconsin's open U.S. Senate seat Tuesday, becoming both the state's first female senator and the first openly gay candidate to be elected to the chamber.
The seven-term congresswoman from Madison held off a political comeback by Republican former Gov. Tommy Thompson, handing him his first defeat in a statewide race. A sullen Thompson, surrounded by his family and Gov. Scott Walker, said he wasn't going away, though the loss likely spells the end of a storied career in politics that began in 1966 and included 14 years as governor and a run for president.

Election 2012: No Rest In Final Campaign Hours For Barack Obama, Mitt Romney (VIDEO)
The White House the prize, President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney raced through a final full day of campaigning on Monday through Ohio and other battleground states holding the keys to victory in a tight race. Both promised brighter days ahead for a nation still struggling with a sluggish economy and high joblessness.
"I've come back to Iowa one more time to ask for your vote," Obama told 20,000 supporters at an outdoor rally in Des Moines, the last of his campaign. "This is where our movement for change began."
A single tear ran down Obama's face as he spoke. Whether it was the product of emotion or the bitter cold was hard to tell.
In a final rally of his own Monday night, Romney told supporters in New Hampshire – he won the state's first-in-the-nation primary – that he needs their votes again.
