St-Pierre wins bloody comeback fight by decision over Condit at UFC 154
1:16AM EST November 18. 2012 - Welcome back, GSP. How about a five-round war?
UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre returned on Saturday after 19 months away and won a bloody battle against interim titleholder Carlos Condit in the main event of UFC 154.
St-Pierre (23-2 MMA, 17-2 UFC) got the win over Condit (28-6, 5-2 UFC) in front of his home fans in Montreal at Bell Centre, and the victory may have set up a superfight against middleweight champion Anderson Silva. St-Pierre won a unanimous decision with scores of 49-46, 50-45 and 50-45, earning two sweeps from the three judges. A relentless Georges St-Pierre celebrated his comeback by winning a five-round decision over Carlos (Natural Born Killer) Condit to unify the welterweight title in a bloody battle at UFC 154 on Saturday night.
It was a high-tempo, take-no-prisoners fight with St-Pierre pushing the pace. The first two rounds went to GSP but Condit threatened briefly in the third. St-Pierre consolidated his lead with takedowns as the fight wore on.
Ultimately GSP's wrestling skills and ability to resist Condit's submission attempts on the ground won the day in what was an entertaining fight. St-Pierre controlled the contest.
