Children in Need 2011: tonight's TV line-up in full

BBC1

7:00pm The One Show: Children in Need Special In a prelude to the charity spectacular, a report on presenter Matt Baker’s 484-mile rickshaw ride in aid of Children in Need. Plus co-host Alex Jones looks at fundraising feats from around the UK and talks to celebrities taking part in the event.

7:30 Children in Need Terry Wogan, Tess Daly, Alesha Dixon and Fearne Cotton present the marathon night of fun and fundraising, which begins with performances by boy band One Direction and the cast of the West End show The Wizard of Oz.

8:00 The BBC newsreaders make their own headlines in a Strictly Come Dancing special, and there’s an exclusive treat from Doctor Who.

8:30 Choirmaster Gareth Malone unites thousands of children from all over the UK to sing live in a mass choir. There’s also a fun musical surprise from the mischievous Outnumbered kids and a live performance from singer Susan Boyle.

9:00 The cast of EastEnders rocks Albert Square in a tribute to Queen, and the Muppets are joined by some celebrity TV fans to create a classic video.

9:30 The tables are turned as Lord Sugar enters the Dragons’ Den, while Gary Barlow brings together a host of music stars to perform the official Children in Need single.

10:00 Never Mind the Buzzcocks A special Children in Need edition of the comedy music quiz, plus live performances from Olly Murs, Ed Sheeran and One Direction.

10:35 Children in Need JLS sing their new single and style guru Gok Wan performs a song from the musical Chicago.

11:00 There's comedy from Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer, and the Hollyoaks cast sings live. Plus a round-up of the fundraising parties taking place around the UK.

11:30 Live music from the Saturdays and recently reformed band Steps, plus some Good Fundraising News from comedian Russell Howard.

12 midnight The stars of the West End show Crazy for You perform a toe-tapping extravaganza live, plus there’s a classic track from singer/songwriter Adele.

12:30am It’s back to the 1980s as Justin Lee Collins, Shayne Ward and the cast of musical Rock of Ages relive the era of loud guitars and big hair, and there’s a specially recorded performance from Lady Gaga.

1:00 Will Young sings live, plus a look back at last night’s Children in Need Rocks Manchester concert.

1:30 Highlights of tonight’s show, and the grand total for the spectacular is revealed.
