Arrests after teenager stabbed to death on Oxford Street

18 year-old Seydou Diarrassouba was attacked in broad daylight at a branch of the trainer store Foot Locker while it was full of shoppers.

The post-mortem examination determined the cause of death had been a "single stab wound to the heart".

Formal identification by family members is yet to take place but the Metropolitan Police said they were "satisfied" it was 18-year-old Seydou Diarrassouba from Mitcham.

Amateur video footage posted on YouTube showed angry scenes outside the Foot Locker store as police held back remonstrating youths while paramedics attempted to revive the first stabbing victim.

Scotland Yard have issued a statement denying a taser was "deployed" during the chaotic scenes which followed Mr Diarrassouba's murder.

Video: Brees Close to Breaking Marino's Record

The play that put Brees over the top: A 9-yard scoring completion to Darren Sproles in the fourth quarter.

With the way he has played the past six years in New Orleans, Brees may someday be joining Marino in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. While Brees has consistently played at a high level since signing with the Saints as a free agent – including a 2009 campaign in which he won MVP honors in Super Bowl XLIV – the 2011 campaign is shaping up as the best of his 11-year NFL career.

Besides breaking Marino’s mark, Brees may top the NFL’s single-season completion percentage record of 70.62 that he set in 2009. Brees entered the Falcons game with a 71.53 completion percentage.

Brees also added to his career-high total of touchdown passes in the second quarter against Atlanta. He notched the 38th of the season on an eight-yard scoring strike to wide receiver Marques Colston.

Brees, 32, came close to setting the single-season passing yardage mark in 2008 but finished 15 yards short. The Saints also failed to make the playoffs that year, which Brees has said took away some of the luster from his 5,069-yard effort.

New Orleans (11-3) entered the Falcons game having already secured a postseason berth for the third consecutive season.

Brees’ accomplishments also have probably raised the price tag for New Orleans to keep him in the fold. Brees is set to become a free agent in the offseason but the Saints are certain to use the franchise tag to retain his services for the 2012 season if a long-term extension cannot be reached.

Timberwolves: Ricky Rubio's wait is over

Minnesota Timberwolves rookie point guard Ricky Rubio is not expected to start in his NBA debut tonight against the Oklahoma City Thunder at Target Center.

But new coach Rick Adelman plans to use the 22 year-old Spanish phenom as the primary backup to nine-year veteran Luke Ridnour in the regular-season opener.

"It will be amazing after two long years to finally play here in (an) NBA game," Rubio, a 2009 first-round draft pick of the Timberwolves, said after this morning's shootaround. "I'm excited and a little nervous, but once I get in the game I will only be thinking about basketball."

Rubio, who grew up in Barcelona, played overseas the last two years with Regal FC Barcelona before taking advantage of a buyout in his contract to join the Timberwolves. Rubio said he's been nursing a sprained right ankle but is fit to play tonight.

"My ankle feels a lot better," Rubio said. "It's not sore anymore."

Rubio was injured in the second quarter of the first exhibition game, Dec. 17 against the Milwaukee Bucks. He did not play in the Timberwolves' exhibition win at Milwaukee on Wednesday.

Tonight's game also represents the NBA debut for rookie forward Derrick Williams, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft. The 6-foot-8 Williams will be used off the bench as part of a rotation with forwards Kevin Love, Michael Beasley and Anthony Tolliver.

Santos Vs Barcelona 0-4 All Goals | Barcelona vs Santos 4-0

If someone still had doubts, now they will not have them any longer: Barcelona is the strongest football team in the world. The latest confirmation came from Yokohama, in the World final for Clubs, won by Benitez's Inter last year: Barcelona won 4-0 against Neymer and Ganso's Santos, getting its second Intercontinental cup in its history. The gap between Guardiola's team and the one led by Muricy Ramalho was enormous, and the match was already closed at the end of the first half. Barcelona shattered the opponents, hiding the ball and reaching the goal area with disarming easiness . .

Former president Václav Havel dies at the age of 75

Former Czech president and playwright Václav Havel died on Sunday morning at the age of 75, several of his former co-workers said. Mr Havel, whose health deteriorated in recent months, only appeared in the public on a few occasions since March when his film, Leaving, was released. The former dissident and Czechoslovakia’s first post-communist president suffered from lung heart problems; in 1996, part of his right lung had to be removed due to a tumor.
Václav Havel, who was born in Prague in 1936, became a respected playwright in the 1960s before he became a leader of Czechoslovakia's anti-communist opposition. He spent some five years in communist prisons. He was elected the country's president in the wake of the Velvet revolution in December 1989, and the president of the Czech Republic in 1993, a post he held for ten years.

Woman burns to death after being set on fire in elevator of her NYC ...

A woman was ambushed in the elevator of her Brooklyn apartment building, doused with a liquid, set ablaze and left to die in a brutal attack that was recorded by two video cameras, police said.

Doris Gillespie, 64, burned to death in the elevator Saturday, police said, after an unidentified man who was waiting for her when the elevator doors opened to the fifth floor of the apartment building in Prospect Heights. The man sprayed Gillespie with an accelerant and set her on fire with a Molotov cocktail, New York City police spokesman Paul Browne said.It was apparent he knew she was on the elevator,” he said.

No arrests had been made as of early Sunday morning, and police were still searching for the suspect.

The brutal attack happened shortly after 4 p.m., lasted about a minute and was recorded by two video cameras, including one inside the small elevator.

The video showed the elevator doors opening to the floor where Gillespie’s apartment was located and the assailant stepping in and spraying her, Browne said.

Gillespie, who had grocery bags in her arms, turned about 180 degrees and then crouched in an attempted to protect herself, he said. But the man sprayed her directly in the face and continued to spray her “sort of methodically” over her head and parts of her body as the bags draped off her arms. She turned around and retreated to the back of the elevator.

At some point, Browne said, the suspect then pulled out a barbeque-style lighter, used it to ignite a rag in a bottle and then waited for a few seconds before using the flames to set her afire, causing smoke to fill the elevator.

The man backed out as she fell to the floor of the elevator, Browne said, and seemed to pause before tossing the bottle inside the elevator and onto her.

Browne would not comment on the motive in the killing, but said the suspect knew his victim.

Investigators believe the suspect fled down the stairs of the building, he said.

Police released still images of the man Saturday night, showing him in a black jacket, wearing what appear to be surgical gloves and with a white dust mask perched atop his head like a pair of sunglasses. He is holding what appears to be a canister with a nozzle and spraying as he steps into the elevator.

Neighbors reported a fire in the building, unaware that the woman was burning to death in the elevator.

Residents were evacuated from the six-story building for hours Saturday night.

NBA Bucks vs. Timberwolves 2011, (12 -17)

The Minnesota Timberwolves are looking to move from intriguing young team to exciting young team with more wins to show for it during the NBA regular season. That process picks up steam on Saturday evening when the Wolves host the Miwaukee Bucks at 7:00 p.m. CT in the first of two preseason games between the teams during the NBA's abbreviated training camp.

The most excitement surrounds heralded rookie point guard Ricky Rubio who is expected to start in his Minnesota debut. Head coach Rick Adelman will be supplying the veteran savvy from the sidelines as he expects to start a lineup with the old man of the crew being 26-year old center Darko Milicic, with the 21-year old Rubio and 23-year old Kevin Love relied on to provide leadership on the floor.

But there is plenty of talent among all of that youth as they look to measure themselves against a Milwaukee Bucks in a bit of a transition but always ready to provide a rugged test under coach Scott Skiles. Point guard Brandon Jennings should make for an interesting matchup for Rubio's debut, with his tendency to put a little flair in his game.

Mike Dunleavy Jr. is a new addition to the Bucks lineup while forward Stephen Jackson is questionable dealing with a back issue and a desire for a contract extension. The Bucks will be most dangerous around the bucket, with center Andrew Bogut looking to take advantage of his skilled post game

Andre Ward vs. Carl Froch - live!

Round Seven: Ward being told to "keep him busy" by his corner and he's been doing just that. Froch hasn't found a working tempo and Ward is too fast and elusive for him now. Now it's Ward's right that's the big scoring punch. Froch drifting dangerously into "puncher's chance" territory. The pace drops towards the end of the round but Ward still out threw Froch in that round.Sorry, but Guardian unofficial scorecard Ward 10-9 Froch
 Andre Ward vs. Carl Froch
Round Six (of twelve): Froch trying to match the pace of Ward's combinations, but Ward not looking concerned. Two more good left hooks from Ward and the scoring punches keep adding up. A right cross for variety from Ward. Froch matches with one of his own, but in the last minute Ward gets a sweet left through his defence and backs Froch up. Then another. Froch looks surprised at Ward's strength. Guardian unofficial scorecard Ward 10-9 Froch

Round Five: Middle of the fight looming and Froch needs to change the pattern, but Ward is pushing him backwards. Froch may have anticipated bullying Ward, but Ward has hardly taken a backward step. Ward outpunching Froch almost 2-1 and adds some little cheeky showboating to taunt Froch. Constant pressure from Ward and Froch is only scoring in brief counters.Guardian unofficial scorecard Ward 10-9 Froch

Round Four: Great jab and uppercut from Ward and he moves inside, believing Froch can't punch from there. Ward is standing in front of Froch and scoring well. Froch trying to bide his time but now Ward is disrupting his every attempt to find rhythm. Now Ward pins Froch in corner and that head is in there. Froch swinging wide and Ward finishes the round with a clean combination to confirm another round.Guardian unofficial scorecard Ward 10-10 Froch

Round Three: Froch starts with a flurry out of a clinch. He'll want to get into this fight soon. That left hand has dropped again and Froch looks a little short of ideas. Landing a few more this round, but the scoring punches are Ward's. A clinch in the last minute leads to a flurry on the inside from both fighters. Froch well in this, but slipping behind a little.Guardian unofficial scorecard Ward 10-9 Froch

Round Two: Ward looking to get inside early and tie Froch up. Another couple of jabs and a hook from the outside. Froch starting the slower for sure. Froch lands a nice uppercut, but no sign of him bossing Ward early. Fight taking place in the centre of the ring which Froch may not like. Great left hook from Ward in the last 20 seconds takes the round.Guardian unofficial scorecard Ward 10-9 Froch

Round One: Froch goes hunting early, but both are wary at the start. Tentative jabbing from both men. Froch smiles slightly, but his body language is cautious. Ward poking the left out carefully. Froch keeping his left a little higher than usual. One clinch and a wild swing from Froch. Ward landing a couple of cleaner jabs towards the end of the round. Tight, but Ward shades it.Guardian unofficial scorecard Ward 10-9 Froch

Ring announcements: Not HBO, so no Michael Buffer rumbling us into tonight's fight. The judges from England, Canada and US are introduced. Froch will likely be hoping that's the last we hear from them.

The fighters are introduced: Ward is 24-0, 13KOs. Froch is 28-1, 20 KOs.
Steve Smoger gets them to touch gloves, a brief stare out finishes and we're ready.

And now Ward:
Ward walks to the ring now. No fuss. Commentator points out he hasn't lost a fight since he was 12 years old. Neither have I, in fairness.

Here Comes Froch:
"We Will Rock You" rings out as Froch is introduced as being from Nottingham, England - "The home of Robin Hood". He's in the ring now without fuss, strolling around and looking confident.

Last minute predictions:
Kyle Joyce tweets: "@GdnUSsports predicting a Andre Ward win, but won't be a knockout, just not feeling one tonight!"

Nick Layton adds: "@GdnUSsports Froch can only win by ko, won't get a points decision in the states"

Nearly time:
Looks like we're close to the ring entrances now, an important ritual which usually involves a final flurry of whatever tacky nonsense has been the marketing focus for the fight (see Haye, David), or sometimes a kind of surreal whistling in the dark from a fighter who seems to be trying to distract himself from what's about to happen (see Hatton, Ricky v Pacquiao, Manny). Generally, the bigger the circus, the bigger the contrast when the assorted clowns finally leave the ring to the fighters.

These two boxers have generally been very respectful of each other and most attempts to raise the hype temperature around instances of "disrespect", particularly around Ward's "Son of God" tag, have been half-hearted, thank... er, God. Watching the Showtime pre-fight documentaries, there's a telling moment when Froch is getting out of a car with his manager prior to the taping of the "staredown", and in all boredom asks him, "Is this going to get heated, because I'm not in the mood...", which says more about the general tenor of the build-up than any montage set to martial music. We'll see what the entrances bring, but these are two pretty level-headed characters and unlikely to be affected by how the other one wears a cape/towel/Stetson.

Swedish House Mafia Performing "Antidote" Live At Madison

The boys are back in town — and this time they've gone big. In fact, it doesn't get much bigger. Just two years shy of the anniversary of their New York City debut at M2 nightclub, Swedish House Mafia is revved up and ready to rock Madison Square Garden on Friday (December 16) with their high-energy, heart-pounding sight-and-sound spectacular. Group members Steve Angello and Axwell took time out of their jam-packed schedule on Thursday to sit down with MTV News and share their excitement for the night that the dance music world can't stop talking about.

"It's just pretty unbelievable," Axwell gushed. "We were obviously scared when we decided to do it because it's such a big place, it's such an expensive place to rent and it's hard to fill. But so many people bought tickets and it sold out in 10 minutes, and just, Wow! you know? It's really amazing that we have that sort of appreciation this side of the Atlantic."

"[Madison Square Garden] is great. It's a beautiful place," said Angello. "Since we were kids, we've always seen the hockey and basketball [games]. It's one of those places — it's the Garden. It's everyone in basketball's favorite place to play, and it's just magic — it's New York!"

Their presence at one of the world's most iconic venues is certainly reflective of the exploding EDM scene here in the States as well as one of the world's most important music cities. The Swedes have been an integral factor in cultivating the sonic palette of cool culture in America. "New York is one of those places where you're always shocked when you leave a show here because of the energy and the crowd," Angello said. "I know how I'm going to feel tomorrow after the show. It's one of those moments you're never going to forget as long as you live — one of those key moments in your career"

This moment has been so massive in the Big Apple that the trio decided to add a second show, in what's being dubbed an afterparty, just up the street at the Roseland Ballroom. All of the action is paired with the highly anticipated digital release of their latest single, "Antidote," a collaboration brought forth by Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen of Pendulum, under their dubstep-infused production moniker, Knife Party.

"Steve was in the tour in Australia, [he] met up with Knife Party and started out with the idea there," Axwell said. "[But] we wanted the track to have some sort of identity, we wanted to have the instrumental and all, but it would be nice with some identity, [so] we started working with a guy named Klas Åhlund, a great writer, and he wrote the little top line hook that you hear."

"But you know, it's a collaboration," Angello went on to say. "I've read some comments that are like, 'It's not the typical Swedish House Mafia sound,' but at the same time it is! We've done what, three or four records? I think we should keep it like that — it's more fun. We have to enjoy coming together and working and doing something that sounds different from what we do solo — so I think that's what Swedish House Mafia is."

Planning on being one of the thousands who share the Swedish House Mafia experience in person or tuning in live to watch on Swedishhousemafia.com? Let us know in the comments below! You can pick up "Antidote" on iTunes or Beatport along the way!

Slim Dunkin Dead: Brick Squad MC Shot on Way to Video Set

Brick Squad affiliate Slim Dunkin was shot dead several hours ago, while on his way to appear in the 'Push Ups' video for Gucci Mane and V-Nasty, a track he rapped on that appears on the duo's street LP, 'BAYTL.'

This afternoon (Dec. 16), en route to the location of the video set, trouble ensued. A source, who wishes to remain anonymous, gave The BoomBox some details about the tragic matter that took the rapper's life. "There was an altercation on the way to the shoot and Slim Dunkin was shot in the stomach," the source close to the situation reveals. "He succumbed to the injuries."

The news comes the afternoon before Gucci's scheduled homecoming celebration at an Atlanta nightspot. There has been speculation as to who's responsible for the murder, including whether or not the longstanding animosity between Gucci Mane and Young Jeezy's camps are to blame.

Just five months ago, 20-year-old Slim and Waka Flocka Flame released their second joint mixtape, 'Twin Towers 2.' Dunkin was also featured on two tracks off Gucci and Waka's 'Ferrari Boyz' LP, and he also serves verses on 'F--- You,' on 'BAYTL.'

At the video shoot for 'Let's Get Faded' Thursday (Dec. 15), in Atlanta, Gucci gave information about upcoming singles and videos, which would feature the fallen rapper. "We're probably gonna do either three or four visuals for this album, including 'Push Ups,' that'll be the next video," he said. "It features Slim Dunkin. We're going to shoot that one tomorrow."

Atlanta police say the rapper Slim Dunkin was gunned down Friday evening in a city music studio as he was preparing to record a video.

Police Maj. Keith Meadows said the rapper, whose real name is Mario Hamilton, was fatally shot in the chest after getting into an argument with another individual.

He was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Meadows told The Associated Press late Friday that police have not been able to identify the shooter. He said investigators have been interviewing those who were inside the studio. He said as many as 20 people were inside the small office-type building at the time of the shooting, which took place around 5:30 p.m., but they were in different places.

Police have not recovered the handgun that was used. Investigators remained at the scene late Friday evening.

"Right now we're just trying to....identify who may have seen what, really just trying to put the pieces of the puzzle together," Meadows said. "It seems everybody witnessed something very different. We're just trying to go back and make sense of everything."

Slim Dunkin had appeared on a number of songs with the rapper Waka Flocka Flame. The website Mtv.com reported that the Brick Squad Monopoly rapper was on a solo track and had recently released a 20-track mix tape that featured Gucci Mane, Roscoe Dash and Pastor Troy.

"It appears the victim was scheduled to do a photo shoot," Meadows said of Friday's events. "Before the video shoot took place, it appears the victim and suspect got involved in a verbal altercation. We don't know what that altercation was about."

"The suspect produced a weapon, discharged that handgun one time, striking the victim in the chest," Meadows said.

Meadows said the victim was in his early 20s and resided in the Atlanta area.

Many fans were posting messages late Friday night on a Facebook page for the rapper.

The website AllHipHop.com last February described Slim Dunkin, a Detroit native, as an up-and-coming talent with "a unique lyrical ability and style all his own."

In an interview with the website, he described himself as someone "trying to provide for his family by making something out of nothing just trying to beat the odds."

"I don't have amazing lyrical ability I just know how to speak on what I been through and where I came from," he said.

Asked what to expect from him in 2011, he responded: "Music, music, music!"

The Artist' Leads 2012 Golden Globes With Six Nominations

(Updates with date for national release of “The Artist” in fifth paragraph.)

Dec. 15 (Bloomberg) -- “The Artist,” Weinstein Co.'s silent, black-and-white film about an actor with the transition to talkies, was nominated for six Golden Globe awards as Hollywood prepares to honor its best work of the year.

“The Descendants,” from News Corp.'s Fox Searchlight, and DreamWorks Pictures' “The Help” each received five nominations including best drama, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association said today at a press conference telecast by NBC from Beverly Hills, California.

Nominations signal probable candidates for Academy Awards, Hollywood's top honor, and often lead to increased box-office and DVD sales. The five nominated to receive the Globe for 2010's best drama also received best-picture Oscar nominations.

“There's no better indicator of how the potential Oscar race will look,” said Paul Dergarabedian, president of Hollywood.com's box-office research service.

“The Artist,” which opened in four U.S. theaters on Nov. 25, will expand nationwide on Dec. 23, Weinstein said. The picture has generated $14.7 million in worldwide ticket sales, including $12.9 million in France, where it opened on Oct. 12, according to Box Office Mojo.

Weinstein followed a similar rollout strategy with “The King's Speech,” winner of last year's best picture Oscar and a best actor Globe for Colin Firth. The $15 million film opened in four U.S. theaters and gradually expanded to 700, taking in $138 million. Worldwide revenue totaled $414.2 million.

Potential Benefits

Other films for which nominations were announced today also stand to benefit. Director Steven Spielberg's “War Horse,” which opens Dec. 25, received two nominations, for best drama and original score. Roadside Attractions LLC's “Albert Nobbs” opens Dec. 21. The film, starring Glenn Close, got three nominations, including best actress for Close, supporting actress for Janet McTeer and best original song.

Studios can use the sales boost. Ticket revenue in the U.S. and Canada will be just over $10 billion in 2011, less than last year's $10.57 billion, Dergarabedian said.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the group that hands out Oscars, last chose the same best picture in 2009, when director Danny Boyle's “Slumdog Millionaire” won both.

Movies nominated in the best drama category also included “Hugo,” “The Ides of March,” and ‘Moneyball.”

“The Artist,” set in the 1920s, follows a silent-film actor whose career is threatened by talkies and a young dancer waiting for her big break. Jean Dujardin was nominated for best actor in a comedy or musical, and Michel Hazanavicius for directing.

Comedy Nominees

Other nominees for best comedy or musical film were “50/50,” “Midnight in Paris,” “Bridesmaids” and “My Week With Marilyn,” another Weinstein film.

The New York-based studio led by brothers Harvey and Bob Weinstein received the most nominations, with 12. Sony Pictures Classics had 10, including for Woody Allen's “Midnight in Paris.” Walt Disney Co.'s Touchstone Pictures took eight nominations, including for “War Horse” and for “Cars 2” in animation.

George Clooney had three nominations, including best actor in a drama for “The Descendants” and best director and best screenplay for “The Ides of March,” in which he co-starred as a presidential candidate.

In “The Descendants,” Clooney plays an indifferent father who attempts to connect with his daughters after a boating accident leaves his wife comatose.

‘The Help'

“The Help,” distributed for Spielberg's DreamWorks studio by Disney, earned a best-acting nomination for Viola Davis. She co-starred as a black maid in 1960s Mississippi who collaborates with an aspiring author, played by Emma Stone, writing a book about the domestics' life. Jessica Chastain was nominated for her supporting role.

Ryan Gosling received two nominations, for best actor in a drama for his role as an idealistic campaign adviser in “The Ides of March” and best comedy actor for “Crazy, Stupid, Love.”

The nominations were read by Gerard Butler, Woody Harrelson, Rashida Jones and Sofia Vergara during a news conference at the Beverly Hilton hotel.

The 69th Golden Globe Awards ceremony will be hosted Jan. 15 by Ricky Gervais and telecast by Comcast Corp.'s NBC network. Oscar nominations will be revealed on Jan. 24. The Feb. 26 awards show will air on Disney's ABC.

Disney's “Cars 2” and DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc.'s “Puss in Boots” were among the films receiving Golden Globe nominations for best animated feature. “The Adventures of Tintin,” “Rango” and “Arthur Christmas” also were named finalists in the category.

Patrick Kane NHL36 - Practice Shenanigans

Early in Wednesday night's debut episode of "NHL 36" on Versus, Blackhawks star Patrick Kane discusses the differences between his hometown of Buffalo and his hockey-season residence of Chicago.

"It was crazy when I first got here, the traffic and everything, it was just so different," Kane says over burritos in Chicago's Loop on a Sunday afternoon, sitting across from his father, Pat. This was the second of 36 consecutive hours that NHL Original Productions would follow Kane for its new "NHL 36" documentary series narrated by actor Peter Coyote.

Kane is clearly more comfortable in Chicago these days, playing in his fifth season although he's just 23 years old. Scoring the 2010 Stanley Cup winning goal for a title-parched sports town can help with that.

Between bites, Kane talks about enjoying a day off before facing Phoenix on Monday night: "It's nice to walk around and act like a regular kid."

Maybe that kid-like mindset explains why Kane appears composed rather than flustered about not scoring in the last eight games before Chicago would host Phoenix the next night. Kane goofs with sales personnel in the Michigan Avenue Blackhawks gear store, highlighted by a funny bit that jabs at fellow boy-wonder teammate Jonathan Toews. Kane shoots his dad a mock-hurt look when Pat orders the Sharpie Steak Burrito (named after teammate Patrick Sharp) and not the Kane Con Queso Chicken Burrito.

One of Kane's Sunday stops is to drop the ceremonial puck at the annual charity hockey game between Chicago's police and fire departments. Before the game, Kane spends private time with family members who have lost loved ones in the line of duty. Fans (especially parents of 20-somethings) will be impressed with Kane's demeanor and sensitivity.

The camera and sound work throughout "NHL36: Kane" is inventive -- no surprise when you realize Emmy-winning executive producer Ross Greenburg is involved in a partnership with the NHL on the new series. The most memorable sequences show Kane at his multifaceted playmaking best: passes squarely on a linemate's stick blade, a flick-touch redirection of the puck to steer it into the offensive zone, dangerous shots on goals that include one clanging of the crossbar.

Accompanying sound is equally revealing and not ordinary. Viewers hear Kane's effort in the grunts and skate scraping. You will see it on Kane's face -- and his trademark mouth guard champing -- as he goes deep into Game No. 9 without a goal. Chicago fans already know it, and, spoiler alert, the episode pays off when Kane scores on a precisely pretty pass from foil/best friend Toews to complete a three-goal comeback and put the Phoenix game into overtime. Viewers get all the replays and camera angles they need to see how Toews and Kane click on such a play, complete with Kane flat on his back in celebration (he slipped after scoring) yelling "what a pass" as Toews approaches.

In perhaps the best on-ice footage, Kane is urging his teammates, including veterans like Marian Hossa and Daniel Carcillo, plus Toews, that "the cross-ice is open." Hossa, who recently scored his 400th goal, listens intently. In that singular moment of the 36 hours, you get a glimpse why Chicago won the Cup and sits near the top of the Western Conference this season.

NHL 36: Patrick Kane will re-air on Versus Dec. 29 at 9:30 a.m., Jan. 1 at 5:00 p.m. and on the newly rebranded NBC Sports Network on Jan. 6 at 9 a.m. It will also air in the United States and Canada on the NHL Network on Saturday, Dec. 17 at 4 p.m. and again Dec. 18 at 1 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.

NHL 36: Patrick Kane is the first in a series of 10 episodes that will shadow NHL players for 36 consecutive hours. The next player to be featured and the air dates will be announced at a later date.

Europa League 2011 All MAtches couvrages Video

Ten-man Stoke lost their unbeaten Europa League record and had to settle for second place in Group E, as Besiktas came from behind to win in Istanbul.

With the Potters having already qualified for the last 32, their manager, Tony Pulis, left all 11 players who started against Tottenham last weekend at home but saw his side take an unlikely 29th-minute lead through Ricardo Fuller.

Santos beat Kashiwa Reysol to enter Club World Cup final

TOYOTA (Japan): Neymar showed why he is the most coveted player outside Europe as he lit up the Club World Cup with a sumptuous strike Wednesday to send Santos on their way to a likely final against Barcelona.
Santos beat Kashiwa Reysol to enter Club World Cup final
All the talk before the semifinal clash against the host side Kashiwa Reysol had been about the 19-year-old forward, and he did not disappoint, scoring a sensational first goal as the Brazilians ran out 3-1 winners.

He will probably meet Barcelona and Lionel Messi in Sunday's final, though the European champions first need to dispose of the Qataris Al Sadd in the other semifinal on Thursday.

Neymar, the young Brazilian international who has been linked with almost every top club in Europe and compared to the Argentine Messi, was almost on the scoresheet after only five minutes, but his low shot bounced off a post.

On 19 minutes he did score, and it was some strike.

He picked the ball up with his back to goal, dummied inside and from outside the box unleashed an unstoppable left-footed curling shot that nestled in the top corner of the net. Goalkeeper Takanori Sugeno had no chance.

Five minutes later the South American champions went two goals ahead when striker Borges, who has been in prolific form in the past year, got away from his marker and crashed the ball into the other corner of Sugeno's goal.

2nd Test: New Zealand beat Australia by 7 runs

HOBART: Doug Bracewell bowled New Zealand to a sensational seven-run victory over Australia in the second Test in Hobart on Monday for the Kiwis' first win in Australia for 26 years.

Scorecard
2nd Test: New Zealand beat Australia by 7 runs
This is New Zealand's first Test win against Australia since 1993 and the first on Australian soil since 1985 and evened up the two-Test series at 1-1 after the hosts won the opening Test in Brisbane by nine wickets.

The Black Caps claimed eight wickets for 74 runs to claim a dramatic victory midway through the fourth day of an extraordinary Test match at Bellerive Oval.

Bracewell finished with 6/40 off 16.4 overs in a match-winning performance to stun the Australians, who appeared on track for victory at 159/2 chasing 241 runs to win.

But the Australians folded spectacularly and David Warner's unbeaten maiden Test century went in vain as wickets tumbled around him and last man Nathan Lyon was bowled by Bracewell in the 64th over to claim victory.

Giants Vs. Cowboys Score: Tony Romo, Dallas Lead New York

There are some hard hits being passed between the Cowboys and the Giants but neither offense is running into that much difficulty in the first half. Dan Bailey's 49 yard field goal with 20 seconds in the half put the Cowboys back in front 17-15.

The Giants began the scoring in the second quarter when Brandon Jacobs capped off a 10 play, 80 yard drive with a one yard scoring run. Dallas came right back with an 80 yard drive of their own and re-took the lead with a Tony Romo to Laurent Robinson nine yard touchdown.

Dallas forced a punt on New York's next possession but Felix Jones coughed up a fumble deep in the Cowboys own territory to set Eli Manning up with good field position. The Giants were unable to punch it in however and had to settle for a 26 yard Lawrence Tynes field goal to make the score 15-14 with just 1:07 remaining in the half. Romo and company then marched 49 yards and Bailey's field goal put the Cowboys back in front at the intermission.

Romo is off to a solid start completing 10 of 14 passes for 104 yards and two touchdowns. Felix Jones has 81 yards rushing on eight carries but lost a fumble in the first half. Laurent Robinson caught two passes for 49 yards and a touchdown in the first half.

Brady Flashes Temper in Patriots’ Win

That is how perfection-driven the New England Patriots are. On a day when Rob Gronkowski was simultaneously strong and nimble, on a day when the New England defense again made just enough plays to compensate for the yards it allowed, it was Brady who had to be calmed down after a rare fourth-quarter mistake in Sunday’s 34-27 victory over the Washington Redskins.

With the Patriots (10-3) leading by 7 points, Brady tried to find Tiquan Underwood in the back of the end zone and was intercepted by Josh Wilson with 6 minutes 30 seconds left. The Redskins (4-9) then began a march downfield that could have sent the game to overtime, even as Brady, sitting on the bench, exchanged words with the offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien.

“I threw a pretty bad interception, so he wasn’t happy about it,” said Brady, who passed for 357 yards but threw his first interception since Nov. 6. “And there was probably a long line of coaches and players” that were upset, Brady admitted, “but Billy got to me first. He let me have it; I deserved it.”

The argument raged long enough that Coach Bill Belichick had to intercede to end it.

Canucks at Canadiens - Sami Salo 3-3 Goal - 12.08.11

Jack Skille vs Johnny Boychuk

The Lakers acquire Chris Paul in a massive three-team deal that raises heaps of questions

Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that the Los Angeles Lakers, Houston Rockets and New Orleans Hornets have struck a deal that would send MVP-level point guard Chris Paul to the Lakers. Wow.

The Lakers acquire Chris Paul in a massive three-team deal that raises heaps of questions
In the deal, Houston would ship Kevin Martin, Luis Scola and Goran Dragic to the Hornets and receive Pau Gasol in return from the Lakers. Los Angeles would also have to send Lamar Odom to the Hornets, and this is about as massive as these things get. Big names, giant moves, heaps of questions and 17 days between now and the Christmas evening which will see the Lakers tip their season off against the Chicago Bulls.

And at least 17 days to try and figure out just what the New Orleans Hornets and Houston are after, here. Unless they're not finished trading. The same goes, honestly, for the Lakers. This deal puts some amazing talent in interesting places, but leaves plenty to be desired for each team.

The Hornets had to dump Paul, and quickly. They had to attempt to get something for the All-Star before training camp started on Friday, before the questions rolled in and before Paul had to sit through media day on Sunday. Yahoo! Sports first reported last week that Paul's agent informed the Hornets (as of Thursday afternoon, players were still allowed to speak to team officials) that he would not be signing a contract extension, essentially a non-request trade request because asking for a trade publicly would result in a fine for Paul.

From there, the Hornets got to work. Ignoring New York, thinking about Boston and considering offers from the Los Angeles Clippers and Golden State Warriors. When the Clippers and Warriors wouldn't budge on sending Eric Gordon or Stephen Curry to New Orleans, the Hornets just about ran out of good options.

But this? New Orleans just traded for one of the most versatile big men in the game, but Odom has to go and quickly. Scola, perhaps just as soon -- if not sooner -- and I have unending respect for those two as players. Still, you don't start a rebuilding process by trading for two guys in their 30s making nearly $9 million a year.

That's assuming New Orleans won't attempt, immediately, to flip Odom (32 years old) and possibly Scola (31) elsewhere. Lord knows they'll have about 29 teams looking to line up to take both on. Of course, New Orleans probably has less leverage in a move like that than the Hornets did while attempting to trade Paul. Odom does make a chunk of change this season, as noted above, but only $2.4 million of his 2012-13 salary is guaranteed for next season. That will be very attractive to trading partners.

The Lakers? I hate to be the cold-water guy, again, but Chris Paul dominates the ball. I mean, he really dominates the ball. Those who are about to compare this deal to the one that sent Earl Monroe to the New York Knicks nearly 40 years ago need to step off, because Chris Paul makes Walt Frazier look like, well, Derek Fisher in terms of dominating the rock.

Which wouldn't be a big deal on most teams, because you have the best point guard in the NBA dominating the rock. But the Lakers have one of the best shooting guards of all time looking to make his moves as well. All while Kobe Bryant attempts to play out of a triangle offense that, save for one truncated season in 2005, he's been working in exclusively since 1999.

That's significant. Bryant was in for a massive re-adjustment as it was, and now he has to give up the rock? This isn't to say Kobe can't drop 50 in any system, but there will be a lot of instincts to overcome for even a player as smart as Kobe. And Mike Brown is going to be coaching this thing?

That's the worry. The luxurious leaving-Laker-fans-giddy worry.

For now the Lakers get to field a terrible frontcourt and the NBA's best backcourt, and that's with an All-Star level center in Andrew Bynum on board. Ron Artest struggled mightily last year, Pau Gasol and Odom are gone, and Luke Walton's body is shot, and … the Lakers don't mind. They have Chris Paul, probably for many years beyond this season. This could be spectacular, if the two can find chemistry.

Houston? They picked up, by far, the second best player in this deal. They also gave up players in Scola and Kevin Martin who border on All-Star level talent on most nights, at least offensively. Paramount to the Rockets, apparently, is the cost-cutting. The team gets to acquire Pau Gasol while coming out about $13 million below the salary cap, enough to potentially sign Denver Nugget free-agent center Nene.

New Orleans? Plenty of assets. Martin continues to be underrated, the Hornets have those trade chips, and a few weeks before the season starts.

Worried NBA onlookers? The biggest team in the basketball world got the best player available. And, yes, the Lakers still have the NBA's best trading chip in hopes of getting Dwight Howard from the Orlando Magic. Chris Paul and Dwight Howard could actually play on the Lakers, if you can believe it, with Kobe Bryant. Mitch Kupchak would have to come out of retirement to play power forward, but this could happen.

The Lakers earned this, though. They cut salary and took advantage of bad GMs in Vancouver, New Jersey and Charlotte on their way toward securing Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant in 1996. They took advantage of bad ownership (which had turned down more talent-laden offers in years prior) in Memphis to pick up Pau Gasol in 2008. They made the gutsy move of selling high with Shaq in 2004, when Bryant wasn't even under contract, to pick up Odom and payroll flexibility. They ignored Bryant's pleas and hung onto Andrew Bynum instead of trading him for Jason Kidd. The Lakers earned the right to make this deal for Chris Paul and possibly more with a decade and a half of shrewd moves.

Moves that have also left them embarrassed after getting swept out of the playoffs a few times, or lacking any semblance of a rotation outside of the superstars, and plenty of criticism along the way.

But the reason they're able to deal for Kobe, for Odom, for Gasol, for Chris Paul and possibly Dwight Howard is because they have the pieces in place. Not because they make more money than anyone else (though this did help them hang onto Odom two offseasons ago), but because they have the parts.

The jerks.

Alec Baldwin receives support from Words With Friends after being kicked off flight

Alec Baldwin returned to New York a little later than he planned Tuesday after he was taken off an American Airlines flight at LAX for playing a game on his iPad.

The “30 Rock” actor said on Twitter a flight attendant “reamed [him] out” for playing the app Words With Friends while the plane was at the gate. Baldwin was then removed from the flight.

“He was really agitated,” passenger Bobbi Stockell told the “Today” show. Fellow passenger, boxer Oscar De La Hoya, told reporters he didn’t think there was a problem. “He just got a little angry. That’s it,” De La Hoya said.

Another passenger, Steve Weiss, told a slightly more dramatic version of the story to the New York Post, claiming that Baldwin was also talking on his cellphone: The flight attendant “was very nice. ... He got up threw his papers on the floor stormed into the bathroom slammed the door closed, beat on the wall and then came back. He said ‘If you want to kick me off, kick me off.’ ”

An unnamed flight attendant alleged the actor was being “violent, abusive and aggressive.”

American Airlines declined to discuss the matter but did reach out to the actor in a tweet.

In the time between his removal from his first flight Tueasday afternoon and the take-off of his second, Baldwin dissed American Airlines and its flight attendants in series of tweets and gave some free publicity to the app that started it all.

“United shud hav app onboard where u can play WWF w other passengers. American shud have app where u read the new testament w flt attendants,” Baldwin said in one of many tweets he sent about the incident.

Zynga, the company that created Words With Friends, sent a tweet to show solidarity with the actor: “Hey @AmericanAir, don’t ground @AlecBaldwin for playing. A.B.S.U.R.D. is worth *at least* 11 points in @WordsWFriends.” The company later tweeted a photo (seen here) of a WWF board that displayed the words, “Let Alec Play.”

Baldwin’s spokesperson also capitalized on the moment, saying in a statement that Baldwin “loves WWF so much that he was willing to leave a plane for it.”

Viktoria Plzen fightback to hold Milan

Viktoria Plzen claimed third place in Group H of the Champions League and a spot in the Europa League after securing a dramatic 2-2 draw with AC Milan on Tuesday night.

Late, late goals from David Bystron and Michal Duris cancelled out Alexandre Pato and Robinho's earlier strikes as the hosts completed a stunning late comeback in Prague.

With their progression already certain, Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri took the opportunity to rest players, including Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva, but their makeshift defence was put to the test in the early stages as the hosts made an energetic start. But despite their hunger and drive, Viktoria Plzen struggled to find the necessary quality in the final third.
Viktoria Plzen claimed third place in Group H after securing a dramatic 2-2 draw.In fact, it took until the 17th minute before they managed a shot on goal. However, it was almost worth the wait as Vaclav Pilar met Pavel Horvath’s corner with a stunning, side-scissors volley which flashed narrowly over the crossbar.

For their part, Milan were seeing a lot of the ball but appeared to be going through the motions having already qualified, with Clarence Seedorf, in particular, cutting a lackadaisical figure as he regularly gifted the opposition possession.

And while the Italians dominated possession, they too struggled to break down the Czech champions’ rearguard action, with long-range efforts from Mattia De Sciglio and Seedorf, both of which failed to hit the target, all they had to show for their efforts.

For their limited possession – 38 per cent to Milan’s 62 at the break – Pavel Vrba’s side were looking threatening as they began to up the ante in the final 10 minutes of the first half by allowing Milan to push forward before winning the ball and attempting to strike with lightning counterattacks.

Yet, despite rampaging raids which eventually ended with Frantisek Rajtoral, Milan Petrzela and Pilar, twice, all presented with reasonable openings, their finishing wasn’t up to the standard required in Europe’s premier club competition as they all fired wide or weakly at Marco Amelia in the Milan goal.

The agony at failing to convert their chances was compounded when Milan taught them a lesson in taking your chances by scoring twice in the first three minutes of the second half.

First, in the 47th minute, Pato seized on Marian Cisovsky’s failure to deal with Robinho’s chest down from a diagonal pass from Massimo Ambrosini, and casually rounded the exposed Marek Cech before slotting into an empty net.

Then, less than 60 second later, Cisovsky again blundered by heading a Taye Taiwo clearance down towards his own goal, which Robinho latched onto before playing a quick one-two with Pato and slamming his fellow Brazilian’s lay off into the roof the net to double his side’s advantage.

While Viktoria Plzen’s place in the Europa League still looked safe due to the fact BATE Borisov were losing against Barcelona, they refused to give up in their search for goals.

In the 57th minute, they had a goal disallowed when Daniel Kolar was ruled offside after tapping the ball into the net following Petrzela’s low strike off the base of the post, while Rajtoral forced a fine reaction save from Amelia.

And their pressure finally paid off with just one minute remaining when central defender Bystron inexplicably popped up in the box to tap home Marek Bakos’ square ball.

Then, in a stunning climax to a pulsating second period, substitute Duris fired home from close range after a neat pass from Cisovksy, who went some way toward redeeming himself for his earlier errors, in the third minute of added on time.

The Italians now look forward to the draw for the next phase on December 16 when they will discover who they will face in the round of 16. Meanwhile, Viktoria Plzen will find out their opponents in the Round of 32 of the Europa League on the same day.

FC Barcelona vs BATE Borisov: Young guns (4-0)

Barcelona (FCB).- None of Messi, Xavi, Iniesta or several other big names from Barça’s first team were on the field, but tonight's display from FC Barcelona was as brilliant as ever. The Catalans were simply too good for BATE Borisov in the final game of the Champions League group stages. It is a victory that is yet another wonderful tribute to the amazing work being done by the staff and players at la Masía, in which the Camp Nou was able to celebrate goals from Sergi Roberto, Montoya and Pedro (2). No fewer than nine members of Barça B played their part in a win by a side with an average age of just 22.7. They may only be youngsters, but there was nothing immature about the way they performed. As was made patent on Tuesday night, the future, or even the present, is bright at Barcelona.

Sergi Roberto opens scoring

FC Barcelona Manager, Pep Guardiola, may have picked a side that featured mainly players that play their trade with Barça B in the Miniestadi, but right from the kickoff they looked quite comfortable on the bigger stage. They maintained almost all of the possession, and had BATE Borisov pegged back in their own half for almost the entire first half, with Rafinha almost opening the scoring with practically the first move of the night.

It was a constant onslaught on the Belarusian goal. The Alcántara brothers, Pedro, Sergi Roberto and a stupendous Isaac Cuenca showed a clear understanding as they produced chance after chance. And it was Sergi Roberto who finally broke the deadlock in the 35th minute to finish off a delightful combination move. These might not have been the players the Camp Nou faithful are used to seeing, but the football was exactly the same.

Cuenca on song

The second half produced more of the same. The visitors barely got a look-in as FC Barcelona played the ball around fast and smoothly, with excellent chances for Pedro and Sergi Roberto to extend the lead, while Fontàs had a goal disallowed for offside. But the second goal looked inevitable and finally came through Isaac Cuenca, who with a flash of brilliance following an assist from Montoya, made no mistake on his European debut.

Pedro bags brace

The early moments of the second half were the best of all from Barça, with the crowd shrieking with delight at such fast and entertaining football. It was no surprise when the third goal appeared, this time following a splendid move involving Pedro, Montoya and Cuenca, the latter providing the final assist, which was backheeled home by the Canary Islander.

Riverola makes debut

With the result decided, Guardiola gave three further members of the Barça B squad the chance to make their Champions League debuts. Muniesa, Deulofeu and Riverola (the latter playing with Barça’s first team for the first time ever) came on for Dos Santos, Rafinha and Sergi Roberto. And there was still time for another goal. Cuenca, shortly after hitting the post, was brought down in the penalty area and Pedro rounded off a magical night for the Barça youth system by converting the ensuing spot kick. It was the perfect end to an almost immaculate group campaign

Chelsea see off Valencia to advance comfortably in Champions League 6/12/2011

That status, valuable as it is, will not be recalled for many seasons to come, unlike the forward who did so much to deliver it. Age, on this showing, is simply honing Didier Drogba. If he is conserving energy it makes him all the more lethal in the penalty area and here the Ivorian claimed two of the three goals against Valencia

Earth-like planet found in distant sun's habitable zone

For the first time, astronomers using NASA's Kepler space telescope have confirmed a roughly Earth-size planet orbiting a sun-like star in the so-called "Goldilocks" zone where water can exist in liquid form on the surface and conditions may be favorable for life as it is known on Earth.

Along with the confirmed extra-solar planet, one of 28 discovered so far by Kepler, researchers today also announced the discovery of 1,094 new exoplanet candidates, pushing the spacecraft's total so far to 2,326, including 10 candidate Earth-size worlds orbiting in the habitable zones of their parent stars.

Additional observations are required to tell if a candidate is, in fact, an actual world. But astronomers say a planet known as Kepler-22b, orbiting a star some 600 light years from Earth, is the real thing."Today I have the privilege of announcing the discovery of Kepler's first planet in the habitable zone of a sun-like star, Kepler-22b," Bill Borucki, the Kepler principal investigator at NASA's Ames Research Center, told reporters. "It's 2.4 times the size of the Earth, it's in an orbital period (or year) of 290 days, a little bit shorter than the Earth's, it's a little bit closer to its star than Earth is to the sun, 15 percent closer.

"But the star is a little bit dimmer, it's a little bit lower in temperature, a little bit smaller. That means that planet, Kepler-22b, has a rather similar temperature to that of the Earth...If the greenhouse warming were similar on this planet, its surface temperature would be something like 72 Fahrenheit, a very pleasant temperature here on Earth."

It is not yet known whether Kepler-22b is predominantly rocky, liquid, or gaseous in composition, but the finding confirms for the first time the long-held expectation that Earth-size planets do, in fact, orbit other suns in the habitable zones of their host stars.

That, in turn, greatly improves the odds for the existence of life, as it is commonly defined, beyond Earth's solar system.

onah Mowry, Bullied Gay Teen, Reveals Fear, Suicide Attempts In Brave Clip (VIDEO)

A bullied teen's poignant video has caught the eye of the blogosphere over three months after it was originally posted.

The clip, simply titled "Whats goin on..." [sic] and uploaded to YouTube in August, features eighth grader Jonah Mowry, who addresses the audience with a series of revealing notecards while Sia's "Breathe Me" plays in the background.

Jonah Mowry

"I've cut...a lot. I have scars. Suicide was an option...many times," Mowry confesses on two of the cards as he sobs in the video, which has been posted on Perez Hilton, Gawker and other sites. Finally, another card contains a series of insults Mowry claims to have been called: "Gay. Fag. D*ck. Douche. Homo. A**hole." The video, however, ends on an upbeat note. "I'm not going anywhere, because I'm stronger than that. I have a million reasons to be here," Mowry writes at the conclusion.

Tim Tebow 35, Vikings 32

When the first play from scrimmage by the Denver Broncos resulted in 2 points for the Minnesota Vikings, I knew that Tim Tebow would for the 5th time in his seven starts bring his team from behind to win an NFL game and drive the H8ers up the wall.

He has driven his detractors over the cliff of sanity, or rather they have chosen to run off that cliff like lemmings rather than admit that he was victorious. The same group that cheered Sammy Sosa who may a sign to God after every homer in his steroid-enhanced home-run battle with Mark McGwire is now angered by Tim Tebow for thanking God for his health and well-being.
He can’t throw, they insist.
But he went 10 for 15 and 20 yards with 2 touchdowns and no interceptions. His QB rating was 149.3.
He runs too much? Today he only tucked in the ball 4 times for 13 yards.
Meanwhile, Cam Newton, whose QB rating numbers are the same as Tebow’s, sets a rushing record for QBs and is praised, not denigrated as a “rusher not a quarterback.”
Tim Tebow’s detractors remind me of the people who hate Sarah Palin because that was the in thing to do in 2008. I like how he answers the critics: on the football field. No need to say anything. Just win, baby. In the year that Al David died, the irony is his team may lose to the fellow who plays that way.
The Associated Press report:
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos were close to being knocked out again. They haven’t flinched in more than a month.
Tebow led yet another late rally, passing for a season-best 202 yards and two third-quarter touchdowns to help the unflappable Broncos win their fifth straight game with a 35-32 victory over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.
Matt Prater kicked two field goals in the final 93 seconds for the Broncos (7-5), who moved into a first-place tie in the AFC West with a loss by the Oakland Raiders. Christian Ponder set Minnesota’s single-game rookie record with 381 yards passing, including a pair of touchdowns to Percy Harvin, but his sideline throw with 1:33 remaining was intercepted by Andre Goodman to set up the winner.
Harvin had a career-high 156 yards for the Vikings (2-10), who lost their fourth in a row.
After serving as the backbone of Denver’s resurgence, putting Tebow in position for all those comebacks, the Broncos got gobbled up by Ponder, Harvin and Toby Gerhart, who gained 91 yards on 21 carries. But they picked off Ponder twice, recovered his fumble and applied enough pressure to equalize the game.
Demaryius Thomas caught four passes for 144 yards and both touchdowns for the Broncos, who raised their record to 6-1 since Tebow took over for Kyle Orton as the starter. Tebow completed 10 of 15 passes.
Four of those victories have come by either four or three points.
The Broncos didn’t score on offense in the first half, totaling 48 yards on 19 plays. Tebow lost a fumble that gave the Vikings three points. But an eight-point deficit was hardly too tall for this strong-minded team — and the determined young quarterback.
After a dizzying display of back-and-forth touchdowns, with both Ponder and Tebow putting together their best games as pros, Ryan Longwell’s third field goal of the game with 3:06 left put the Vikings back in front by three.
So it was teed up for Tebow.
Tebow threw a wobbler that still landed on target, when a wide-open Thomas hauled in a 40-yard completion. Thomas couldn’t bring in the third-down pass at the goal line, but Prater tied the game with a 46-yarder before Ponder’s second glaring mistake.
That negated a beautiful game between Ponder and Harvin, who was just as wide open as Thomas all afternoon.
The do-it-all wide receiver raced 48 yards for his second score early in the fourth quarter to put the Vikings up 29-21, thanks to a textbook block by Ryan D’Imperio and a missed tackle by Kyle McCarthy. That was the first fourth-quarter touchdown given up by the Broncos in five games. They averaged 15 points allowed over their previous four games.

But there went the Broncos again. Tebow hit Thomas for 42 yards, and Willis McGahee rumbled into the end zone from 24 yards out. Then Tebow took the snap on the 2-point conversion and rolled to his right and over the goal line to tie the game at 29.
Ponder was every bit the rookie during an awful first quarter. He cost his team an easy three points by losing a fumble at the 15 when Brian Dawkins punched the ball out and threw an interception that Mario Haggan — starting in place of injured linebacker Von Miller — returned for a walk-in 16-yard touchdown. In Ponder’s defense, he hardly had any time to throw against a heavy blitz.
But he found a better groove before halftime and fired a 19-yard touchdown pass to tight end Kyle Rudolph.
Then Jared Allen, who picked up a safety for stopping McGahee in the end zone on the first play for the Broncos, chased Tebow out of the pocket and stripped the ball as he sacked him with 39 seconds left in the second quarter, setting up Longwell for his second field goal to give the Vikings a 15-7 lead.
Tebow didn’t wait for the closing minutes to start the rally. The Broncos drove 78 yards for a score right after halftime to cut the lead to 15-14 on the first touchdown to Thomas. McGahee tore up the Vikings between the tackles on that possession and finished with 111 yards on 20 attempts.
Ponder, a college rival of the former Florida star Tebow while at Florida State, responded right away, though. He completed a 52-yard touchdown pass to Harvin, another Gators star, when Chris Harris fell down trying to cover the out route, letting Harvin race untouched to put the Vikings back up by eight.
Quan Cosby’s kickoff return past midfield put the Broncos back in position, though, and the next big play was all Tebow. Pushed out of the pocket with no one open, he ran left and delivered on on-target across-his-body throw to Thomas, who ran the rest of the way for a 41-yard score.

Fourth Quarter Open Thread: Packers at Giants

Only four possessions in the third quarter, two long touchdown drives (one for each team) and the Giants ended it with the ball and on the move. Time to force a punt and get the ball back.

Keep the lead, and keep scoring! Packers 28, Giants 24.]]

Here are the New York Giants inactives today against the Green Bay Packers -- Mark Herzlich, Osi Umenyiora, David Baas, Stacy Andrews, Mario Manningham, Darel Scott, Jimmy Kennedy.

Andrews was admitted to the hospital last night with pulmonary embolisms in both lungs. The blood clots are thought to have originated in his legs, broken up and traveled to his lungs.

Ronnie Barnes, the Giants' senior vice president of medical services, said Andrews is receiving treatment and resting in the hospital and will most likely be released ton Monday.

Baas, the Giants starting center, was a late scratch due to heaches. Herzlich (ankle) and Umenyiora (ankle) were not expected to play. It will be interesting to see how the Giants shuffle their offensive line. Kevin Boothe started at left guard last week, but is also the backup center.

Running back Ahmad Bradshaw and linebacker Michael Boley will play. Bradshaw has missed the last four games with a cracked bone in his foot. Boley has missed two games due to a hamstring injury.

TUF 14 Finale: Michael Bisping vs. Mayhem Miller

One of the best seasons in recent TUF history comes to a close tomorrow night in Las Vegas, Nevada where a bantamweight and featherweight season winner will be determined. After these men are given the glass plaque, six figure contract and accolades for the accomplishment, the real finale happens – Michael Bisping (21-3) vs. Jason Miller (24-7). Throughout the season, they got under each others skin and antagonized themselves with pranks, shouting and almost coming to blows, all while displaying a true passion and talent for coaching the men on their teams.

Let’s take a look and see how the men stack up against each other in their fight.

Punching Power: Advantage Bisping

Bisping has the better hands on paper and has won thirteen of his fights by way of KO/ TKO. Knowing that he can win this fight on the feet, he needs to stay on the outside and set up jabs and combos, which could lead up to the opening for a flurry finish or one punch knockout.

Miller is a better well-rounded fighter and is no slouch with his hands but will need to respect the right hand of his opponent and take his time. Possessing six KO wins on his resume, he is able to get the job done and knows where to hit Bisping, courtesy of Dan Henderson.

Wrestling: Even

These men know how to work the fight to the ground and implement a submission/ grappling match once there. The slight advantage would have to go to Bisping if there is one, only for being the naturally bigger fighter and he may use this size advantage to muscle the fight against the cage and work the clinch. Miller knows what to do and how to stay relaxed in any situation, if the chance arrives, he can get the fight to the ground and set up his submission skills to be showcased.

Jiu-Jitsu: Advantage Miller

Miller is the decisive fighter in this scenario, due in part to his fourteen submission victories and ability to stay calm and secure the hold. During his championship bout for the Strikeforce middleweight title with Jake Shields, Miller was able to secure numerous holds on Shields (one of the most regarded jiu-jitsu players in MMA) and almost got the win with a rear naked choke before the clock ran out. Once he is able to get this to the ground, he can submit Bisping either on top or from his back.

The Wolfslair fighter has some submission wins on his record and is knowledgeable to get an opponent to tap. However, he has never been faced with an opponent with such a decorated jiu-jitsu background as Miller. He will need to look past the antics and goofiness he feels Miller brings to the cage and respect what the fighter across from him can do to win the fight and send him across the pond with a loss.

Mentality: Advantage Miller

Miller may appear to be crazy and carefree about his position in MMA but it is a gimmick and his persona, not the way he feels about what he does. Watching the show, any fan can see he cares about the sport, his team, coaches and all involved. Not scared of any opponent and accepting of the outcome, plus more professional experience – the mental game is his strong point with his physical abilities to support.

The winner of TUF season three has accomplishment what nobody can take away but observing him from the house to the fight tomorrow, he is easy to infuriate and loses focus. Jorge Rivera did this best leading into their fight and the anger was visible in the opening moments of the round; Bisping was stiff and throwing strong punches looking for a highlight reel finish, instead of being loose and following a game plan. If you beat a man mentally, you can beat him physically.

Whoever ends the night with their arm raised is one step closer to a title shot, should it be immediate? NO. Bisping is not ready for Anderson Silva despite what he thinks and Mayhem would need another fight to get ready for the spider’s web. A smart fight for the winner would be Chael Sonnen or Mark Munoz – two powerful wrestlers with their own strengths that match up w

Helenius vs Chisora Results: Chisora Robbed in Helsinki, Helenius Wins Split Decision

Today in Helsinki, British heavyweight Dereck Chisora dominated the fight, beat the brakes off of Robert Helenius, and even overcame a clearly biased and terrible referee, clearly beating Helenius in front of his home fans.

Unfortunately, the judges disagreed, rewarding Helenius a split decision win on scores of 115-113, 115-113, and 113-115. Bad Left Hook scored the fight 117-111 for Chisora.

Chisora (15-2, 9 KO) dominated the pace of the fight, unloading great shots to the body and taking Helenius' energy. By the latter rounds, Helenius (17-0, 11 KO) was clearly and totally gassed out. Chisora landed more clean shots, was far more active, and had Helenius backing up for the vast majority of the fight.

This was, plain and simple, a flat-out robbery. Italian referee Adrio Zannoni repeatedly cut Chisora off as he moved forward, including a brilliant moment where he waved his hand in front of a stalking Chisora's face.

Helenius did do some good work in the fight, landing some good shots, but he never enjoyed sustained momentum. It was the relentless pressure of Chisora that was the story of the fight, as he took away the taller man's jab, bullied him around the ring, and simply beat him, bottom line, without question.

There is no arguing this fight for Helenius, at least in my mind. But cast your vote: Do you think Chisora was robbed here, or just unlucky?

Herman Cain 'I Am Suspending My Presidential Campaign'

Republican candidate Herman Cain just announced ... he is suspending his Presidential campaign -- effectively dropping out of the race.

Cain made the announcement moments ago in a news conference in Atlanta -- claiming he is making the decision "because of the continued distraction, the continued hurt, caused on me and my family" by recent sexual harassment allegations.

Cain said, “I am at peace with my God. I am at peace with my wife, and she is at peace with me.”

Cain said he will soon be announcing his endorsement of another candidate.
